More than just oboe playing
Sanja is a vibrant performer, educator, music coach, and content creator who transforms life experiences and inspiration into conceptual concerts and musical narratives. Her stunning tone, stage presence, and seductive musicality are widely praised by audiences around the world.
According to Zubin Mehta, “Sanja’s musical depth and lovely tone inspire her colleagues and transcend the entire orchestra.” At his invitation, Sanja performed as guest principal oboe on the Maestro’s final three summer tours with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Više nego samo oboistkinja, Sanja je svestrana umetnica, pedagog i kreator različitih projekata u koje unosi svoje životno iskustvo i inspiraciju u formi muzičkih priča. Njene nastupe karakterišu divan ton, harizma na sceni i senzualna muzikalnost.
„Sanja poseduje duboku muzikalnost i predivan ton koji se izdvaja nad orkestrom, inspirišući njene kolege“, rekao je legendarni dirigent Zubin Mehta. Na njegov poziv, 2019. godine, učestvovala je kao solo oboistkinja sa Izraelskom filharmonijom na maestrove tri oproštajne turneje po Južnoj Americi, Litvaniji i Evropi.
In 2024, she brought together three countries, companies, and artists by commissioning and giving the world premiere of Nimrod Borenstein’s new oboe concerto Légende, written for her and kindly supported by Buffet Crampon Paris, as part of the Belgrade Philharmonic's centenary celebration.
As a soloist, her recent engagements include Légende with Hossein Pishkar and the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, Frigyes Hidas's Oboe Concerto with the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra and Srboljub Dinić, the gala opening of the Al Bustan Festival in Beirut with Cimarosa's Oboe Concerto and Gianluca Marcianò, Mozart's Oboe Concerto with the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra under Michal Nesterowicz, and Vaughan Williams's Oboe Concerto with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and maestro Howard Griffiths. She has also performed Sea Meditation with the Zagreb Soloists.
Influenced by the turbulent political landscape of her upbringing in the Balkans, she shaped the program for her debut CD Melodies of Nations in 2017, promoting the idea of music as a universal language that connects diverse cultures. The album features lesser-known pieces for oboe and piano and was recorded with Irish pianist Fionnuala Moynihan. It was released under the London labels Hedone and Metropolis Music. In 2021, she released two neoclassical singles with Croatian composer and pianist Antonija Pacek for the Australian label Yellow Rose Records.
Sanja actively explores and champions new repertoire for the oboe. Composers such as Nimrod Borenstein (UK), Airat Ichmouratov (RU-CAD), Svetozar Saša Kovačević (SRB), and Miloš Raičković (SRB-USA) have dedicated works to her.
A passionate chamber musician, Sanja co-founded the NS Chamber Ensemble, which brings together some of Serbia’s finest musicians in various formations. In 2025, she is preparing the project Romances & Identity with Croatian pianist Danijel Detoni. Her other collaborations include work with Serbian guitarist Zoran Anić, harpist Milana Zarić, Quintologia woodwind quintet, and Ventus Quintet Salzburg.
Sanja is currently an Associate Professor of Oboe and Orchestral Studies for woodwind instruments at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia. She regularly gives masterclasses in Hungary, Ireland, Slovenia, Lebanon, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Romania.
Her first online oboe masterclass, Back to Basics, was released in Serbian in June 2023 and in English in 2024. Interested in movement and body mechanics, Sanja advocates for ease of playing through a holistic approach that emphasizes the synergy between body and mind and promotes musicians' health. This philosophy is the foundation of her teaching concept Playing & Living with Ease, also the name of her podcast, which embraces her educational methods and professional coaching practices.
From 2011 to 2024, Sanja served as the principal oboist of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. Before that, she held the same position at the SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana in Slovenia.
As an orchestral musician, she has toured the USA, Europe, and China, performing under renowned conductors with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, Salzburg Chamber Soloists, Kremerata Baltica, Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, Prague Chamber Orchestra, and Holland National Youth Orchestra. She also participated in the No Borders Orchestra project, which resulted in a CD released by Deutsche Grammophon.
Sanja shares her passion and extensive orchestral experience as a mentor and coach for woodwind players in international youth orchestras such as the Orchestra Academy of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Al Bustan Festival Youth Orchestra in Lebanon, the West Balkan Youth Orchestra (WBYO), and FAME’S European Orchestral Performing Institute.
Sanja's creative drive has led to numerous successful projects. Since 2016, she has led the mentorship program Playing with Ease. In 2018, she founded the Oboe Fest in Belgrade, serving as its artistic director from 2018 to 2024.
In 2019, she collaborated with UAE-based fashion designer Jelena Bin Drai in the project Music & Style, performing in Jelena’s custom-designed dresses.
In 2020, Sanja launched the educational platform Music Stories, which has since evolved into a series of curated, intimate classical concerts that connect music with various life themes.
Born and residing in Serbia, Sanja holds dual Serbian and Slovenian citizenship, the latter earned in recognition of her artistic achievements during her years of work and residence in Slovenia.
A recipient of the Soros Foundation Scholarship, Sanja graduated with honors from the Liszt Ferenc Academy in Budapest, studying under Peter Pongratz and Gábor Dienes, and later from Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Professor Stefan Schilli.
Sanja is a Buffet Crampon Paris artist and plays the Légende model oboe.
She views music as inspiration—the wheel of life and an art form that connects the inner and outer worlds. When not performing, she recharges in nature, engages in discussions on music and personal growth, and enjoys dancing Argentine tango.

2024. godine je okupila tri zemlje, njihove kompanije i umetnike. Uz podršku firme Bife Krampon iz Pariza je naručila i izvela svetsku premijeru novog koncerta za obou, ”Legenda”, kompozitora Nimroda Borenštajna. Premijeru koncerta je posvetila proslavi 100- godišnjice postojanja Beogradske filharmonije.
Aktivno nastupa kao solistkinja. Angažmani uključuju svetska premijera koncerta Legenda Nimroda Borenštajna sa Beogardskom filharmonijom i maestrom Hosein Piškarom, Friđeš Hidaš koncert za obou sa Vojvođanskim simfonijskim orkestrom i maestrom Srboljubom Dinićem, Gala otvaranje festivala Al Bustan u Bejrutu sa dirigentom Đanlukom Marćano, Mocart koncert za obou sa Makedonskom filharmonijom i maestrom Mihalom Nesterovicem, Von Vilijamsov koncert sa Beogradskom filharmonijom i maestrom Hauardom Grifitsom, saradnja sa Salcburškom kamernom filharmonijom, Ansamblom Metamorphosis, Zagrebačkim solistima…
Ideju univerzalnosti muzičkog jezika, koja ujedinjuje ljude kroz različite kulture, 2017. godine je prikazala u projektu Muzička razglednica i ovekovečila na kompakt disku Melodije nacija, u saradnji sa irskom pijanistkinjom Finulom Mojnihan. CD je izdat od strane londonske kuće „Hedone Records“ i srpske „Metropolis Music“. U 2021. godini je, u saradnji sa hrvatskom pijanistkinjom Antonijom Paček, izdala dva singla za australsku kuću „Yellow Rose Records“. U okviru „No Borders“ orkestra, takođe su izdali CD za „Deutsche Grammophon“.
Rado istražuje novu muziku za obou, a dela su joj posvetili Nimrod Borenštajn (UK), Airat Ichmouratov (RU-CAD), Svetozar Saša Kovačević (SRB), Miloš Raičković (SRB- SAD).
Posvećena kamernom muziciranju, Sanja aktivno sarađuje sa Novosadskim Kamernim Ansamblom, koji je sačinjen od najistaknutijih domaćih solista, i koncertira u različitim instrumentalnim formacijama. U 2025. godini priprema novi projekat a hrvatskim pijanistom Danijelom Detonijem, Romanse i Identitet. Pored saradnje sa srpskim gitaristom Zoranom Anićem u okviru RomAn dua, sarađivala je i sa harfistkinjom Milanom Zarić, duvačkim kvintetom Quintologia iz Slovenije, kvintetom Ventus iz Salcburga..
Sanja je vanredni profesor za obou na Akademiji umetnosti, a pored toga predaje i poznavanje orkestarskih deonica za drvene duvačke instrumente. Redovno drži majstorske kurseve u Srbiji, Irskoj, Sloveniji, Mađarskoj, Libanu, Crnoj Gori, Bosni i Hercegovini.
Njen prvi onlajn kurs „Povratak osnovama“ objavljen je 2023. godine na srpskom jeziku i 2024. na engleskom jeziku. Aktivno istražuje pokret, mehaniku tela, mentalnu pripremu i psihološke aspekte sviranja, koje predaje u okviru svog mentorsko-koučing koncepta „Svirati i živeti sa lakoćom“. Istoimeni podkast na engleskom jeziku pokrenula je 2023. godine, kreirajući koristan sadržaj kao podršku na profesionalnom putu mladim muzičarima.
Između 2011- 2024 godine je delovala kao solo oboistkinja Beogradske filharmonije, a pre toga je držala istu poziciju u orkestru SNG Opere i baleta u Ljubljani, u Sloveniji.
U ulozi orkestarskog muzičara je nastupala po Americi, Evropi i Kini, sarađujući sa brojnim prestižnim orkestrima, kao što su Izraelska filharmonija, Salcburški kamerni solisti, orkestar Kremerata Baltica, Praški kamerni orkestar, RTV orkestar Ljubljana, Slovenačka filharmonija, Erdödy kamerni orkestar iz Mađarske…
Svoje bogato iskustvo i strast ka orkestarskom sviranju Sanja prenosi kao mentor internacionalnih omladinskih orkestara: orkestarska Akademija Beogradske filharmonije, Omladinski orkestar festivala Al Bustan u Libanu, West Balkan omladinski orkestar i FAME’S - European Orchestral Performing Institute.
Studije je završila na klasi prof. Petera Pongraca na budimpeštanskoj akademiji „Liszt Ferenc“ sa počastima, kao stipendista organizacije „Soros“. Usavršavala se na majstorskim kursevima eminentnih oboista, kao i na Univerzitetu „Mozarteum“ u Salcburgu, u klasi prof. Štefana Šilija, nakon čega je osvojila poziciju solo oboe Opere i Baleta Ljubljana.
Potrebu za kreativnim izražavanjem realizuje u okviru brojnih projekata koje je realizovala. 2016. godine je pokrenula Kamp zdravlja muzičara, koji je vremenom prerasato u mentorski i koučing konpcet, Svirati sa lakoćom. Oboa fest je inicirala 2018. godine, osnovala i zajedno sa kolegama vodila od 2018- 2023. godine. 2020. godine je pokrenula edukativni koncept Muzičke priče, koji je prerastao u privatne salonske koncerte.
Studije u klasi prof. Petera Pongraca na budimpeštanskoj akademiji „Liszt Ferenc “ je završila sa počastima kao stipendista organizacije “Šoroš”. Usavršavala se na majstorskim kursevima eminentnih oboista, kao i na Univerzitetu “Mocarteum” u Salcburgu, u klasi prof. Štefana Šilija, posle čega je uskoro osvojila poziciju solo oboe Opere i Baleta Ljubljana.
Novosadska umetnica, Sanja je dobitnik slovenačkog državljanstva na osnovu doprinosa na području kulture, u periodu dok je živela i radila u Sloveniji.
Muzika je za nju neiscrpna inspiracija, pokretač života i umetnost koja povezuje i istražuje spoljašnji i unutrašnji svet.
